Interactive Web Design Shows How to Be A Dream Web Design Client

The Internet is filled with lots of articles on how to be good web designers, and what clients require of the interactive website designers they work with. It’s actually pretty straightforward what most of us would want our web designers to be. However, any relationship has two parties, and in this relationship, the voice of the other party- those of the web designers, is oftentimes silent. Have you ever stopped to think what they look for in their clients? Interactive Web Design recently sat down with us and aired out their side of the story. Read on to find out if you are a “dream client” to these people.

1. A good client keeps to his word- Interactive Web Design has had years of experience dealing with people who say one thing, or agree to one thing but then suddenly change every single aspect of the project! In all honesty, nobody wants to get involved with those kinds of clients, especially not interactive website design! A good and responsible client, after he gets the contract, should read through it thoroughly, clarifies any questions he may have, and then follows the contract through with no questions asked. All of us should remember that a contract is more than just a piece of paper, a contract is a legal and binding agreement that must be honored.

2. A good client is simply direct- From the start of the project, a good client must really make it clear what he wants his website to have. Does he want it to be image heavy with a flash presentation? Does he want just a single page website, or one that spans 10 pages long? Clearly stating his website requirements will not only make the job easier, but will also help in setting realistic deadlines. This is the kind of client that firms like Interactive Web Design love to work with!

3. A good client is reachable and visible- Since web designers work is one that is seen online, then it is to be expected to find the people who design them online most of the time too. This is why companies like Interactive Web Design would prefer it if their clients to have an online presence. It would make things so much easier if clients could answer emails in a right away, and approve or disapprove any mock-ups in a timely manner. This way, no time is wasted. If it isn’t possible for a client to be online all the time, then he must at least schedule meetings regularly and reply to phone calls or text, so that he can be easily updated with his website’s progress.

4. A good client must be patient- One last thing Interactive Web Design leaves us with, ” As web designers, we completely understand that you, as our clients want your website to be done in the fastest time possible. However, you have to go in this with the idea that some things take longer than others, and that we have other clients to attend to as well. This is why we work together to set realistic deadlines, so you know when to expect updates. It would be nice if clients do not continually bug us about finishing the site when work has just started”.
